Kurt Wuckert Jr. | Chief Bitcoin Historian

Kurt Wuckert Jr. is the Chief Bitcoin Historian, founder of GorillaPool and Open Protocol Labs, and host of Kurt's Podcast. At CoinGeek since November 2020, he has written 262 articles and hosted the weekly livestream for close to five years. He has been in Bitcoin since 2012, researching its origins since 2013, and writes that history with the footnotes attached, so anyone can check him.

His Written History of Bitcoin series runs more than 14 parts, 5,000 to 22,000 words each, footnoted to the source. The Bitcoin Civil War, in his telling, was a fight over who gets to change the rules, not a number in the code. This site keeps a Satoshi archive of Satoshi Nakamoto's original writings and a History of Money and Banking series. He was a consultant on the 2026 feature film "Bitcoin", directed by Doug Liman.

As a Bitcoin historian he followed all three Craig Wright trials: Kleiman v. Wright in the US District Court, S.D. Florida, Miami, November 2021, from the gallery daily; Granath v. Wright in Oslo District Court, September 2022, in person; and COPA v. Wright in the High Court, London, February to March 2024, every session through accredited media access, remote. He works as a bitcoin expert witness and litigation consultant; before Bitcoin he was a penetration tester, paid to break into systems, with permission.

He co-founded GorillaPool, a Bitcoin mining pool, in 2021, and hosts mining infrastructure for clients. He co-founded Open Protocol Labs, a protocol development company, in 2023, where he is CEO, and bOpen, an AI agent infrastructure organization. Since 2017 he has hosted a weekly livestream where the audience asks the questions in real time. He is a Bitcoin SV advocate and says so in public every week.

As a bitcoin keynote speaker and bitcoin history speaker, he has spoken to national audiences through Fox Business and spoken at CoinGeek conferences, the Blockchain Futurist Conference and the London Blockchain Conference. He has interviewed Peter Schiff, Tim Draper, Ben McKenzie, Scott Galloway and Mike Hearn, and debated Peter McCormack and Paul Sztorc. He is based in Delray Beach, Florida, and travels.
