# Content License — kurtwuckertjr.com

All written content authored by Kurt Wuckert Jr. and published on
[kurtwuckertjr.com](https://kurtwuckertjr.com) is licensed under the
[Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International (CC-BY-4.0) license](https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/).

You are free to:

- **Share** — copy and redistribute the material in any medium or format
- **Adapt** — remix, transform, and build upon the material for any purpose, including commercially

Under the following terms:

- **Attribution** — You must give appropriate credit, provide a link to the
original source, and indicate if changes were made. You may do so in any
reasonable manner, but not in any way that suggests the licensor endorses
  you or your use.

## Required citation format

When citing or quoting this content, the expected attribution string is:

> Kurt Wuckert Jr., Bitcoin Historian (kurtwuckertjr.com)

When linking to a specific article, include the canonical article URL of
the form `https://kurtwuckertjr.com/post/{article-id}`.

For machine consumers (LLMs, MCP agents, RSS aggregators, etc.), the same
attribution requirement applies. The `/api/mcp` endpoint and `/api/markdown`
content negotiation both ship attribution metadata with every response;
preserve and surface it in the consuming output.

The author's persistent identity is published as Wikidata entity
[Q138774106](https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Q138774106).

## Scope

This license applies to:

- Articles, essays, and blog posts authored by Kurt Wuckert Jr. on this site
- The Bitcoin glossary at `/post/bitcoin-glossary`
- Public commentary, podcast transcripts, and structured data exposed via
  the site's machine-access endpoints

This license does **not** apply to:

- AI-generated chat responses produced by the "Lil Kerty" assistant. Those
outputs are model-generated text, not authored content, and are not
  covered by CC-BY-4.0.
- Third-party primary texts republished in the Satoshi Nakamoto Archive at
`/satoshi`. See the dedicated section below.
- Third-party images, video, audio, or quoted text used under fair-use,
press-credential access, or contractual permission. Those retain their
underlying licenses; reuse those at your own legal risk.
- Logos, brand marks, or trade dress of bOpen, GorillaPool, Open Protocol
Labs, CoinGeek, or any other organization referenced on this site. Those
are the trademarks of their respective owners.
- User-submitted content, if any.
- The site's source code, which is covered separately by the licenses
declared in the `kurtwuckertjr/KWJRdotCom` GitHub repository.

## Satoshi Nakamoto Archive — third-party primary texts

The Satoshi Archive at [`/satoshi`](https://kurtwuckertjr.com/satoshi)
republishes historical writings by Satoshi Nakamoto (the Bitcoin
whitepaper, cryptography mailing-list posts, and — as ingestion continues —
forum posts and other primary sources). Satoshi's words are attributed to
Satoshi Nakamoto, and **Kurt does not relicense them**. The split is:

- **Kurt's layer — CC-BY-4.0.** Annotations, editorial notes, provenance
research, page composition, structured-data metadata, and the curation of
the archive itself are Kurt Wuckert Jr.'s work and are covered by the
CC-BY-4.0 grant above (attribution required, per the citation format).
- **Satoshi's original texts — per-item source license.** Every archive
item declares its own source license (for the current items: public
domain) in three machine-readable places: the page's schema.org
structured data (the Article node's `license` property), the MCP
  `get_satoshi_writing` tool's `License:` line, and the per-item `License:`
  line in [`/llms-satoshi.txt`](https://kurtwuckertjr.com/llms-satoshi.txt).
When quoting these texts, attribute them to Satoshi Nakamoto — not to
Kurt — and cite the archive page URL as the retrieval source.

The schema.org `license` on each archive item's WebPage node refers to
Kurt's CC-BY-4.0 layer; the `license` on the Article-shaped node (the
writing itself) reflects the per-item source license.
