Bitcoin Historian. Fighter. Family Man

KURT’S BITCOIN JOURNEY

Kurt Jr. is a Chicago-born entrepreneur based in Miami, working at the intersection of Bitcoin mining, cybersecurity, media and AI. As CoinGeek’s Chief Bitcoin Historian, he blends technical insight with a deep love of ancient history, giving rare context to how money, power and technology shape civilization. He has a knack for turning dense blockchain and security concepts into clear, actionable ideas for builders, executives and everyday users.

Kurt is the cofounder of GorillaPool.com and a recognized expert in the design and deployment of hash power operations for Bitcoin mining and related infrastructure. In Bitcoin since 2012, he has been an outspoken advocate for Satoshi’s Vision of big block Bitcoin from the earliest days of the Bitcoin Civil War. Alongside his work in mining and infrastructure, he advises on social media commercialization, helping brands and personalities turn attention into durable revenue and community. He is a frequent host, co-host and guest across the blockchain and tech media landscape.

Off camera, Kurt lives what he teaches. He is a committed husband and father of three, a small group leader at his church, a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu black belt and a daily weightlifter. He treats discipline in the gym, on the mats and at home as the same kind of long-term compounding that makes great businesses and great technologies possible.

Kurt focuses on teaching Bitcoin’s history, function and real-world utility for users and businesses through writing, video and in-person experiences, correcting the record of the Bitcoin Civil War and showing how Bitcoin, AI and modern infrastructure can be used to build stronger companies and stronger cultures.

LIFE OUTSIDE BITCOIN

Kurt spends his free time with his growing family and training in MMA with his beloved wife. They are both Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu competitors. Kurt spent about five years as the head fundamentals instructor for the Alliance Jiu-Jitsu Training Center in Chicago, and now teaches advanced Jiu-Jitsu in South Florida. He is a successful competitor, but has spent the last few years focused on coaching athletes and volunteering with students in his free time.

BLOG

Kurt has a knack for keeping things practical while never being afraid to poke fun at people’s sacred calfs – or is it “calves?” Either way, he is a fearless advocate for the unbounded Bitcoin protocol and on-chain scaling with proof of work.

EVENTS, CONFERENCES AND INTERVIEWS

Kurt is happy to take a serious topic or lead with the laughs. He is comfortable in person, remote or live via studio.

Some Other Stuff Too!

Kurt believes strongly in epistemological self-consciousness and the strong rhetoric backed up by hard work, self-reliance and the humility to know when to ask for help. He is just as thrilled to act as a business, bitcoin or software consultant as he is to be a life mentor or martial arts instructor.
